XIAMEN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The 6th Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival kicked off on Friday in Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province.

This year's festival will feature 26 exhibitions, presenting works by 87 artists from France, Belgium, Singapore, Lithuania, the United States, Japan, and China.

Every year, the Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival features an Asian country. This year the focus is on Japan, with the exhibition "Insights into a Time: Japanese Photography Now" featuring four Japanese female photographers: Rinko Kawauchi, Mari Katayama, Chikako Yamashiro, and Lieko Shiga.

The festival will last until Jan. 3, 2021. Its opening weekend between Friday and Sunday will see a series of activities for photo professionals, enthusiasts, and members of the public, including the opening ceremony, awarding ceremony, and lectures.

First launched in 2015, the Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival has attracted more than 300,000 visitors over the past five years. In 2019, its visitor number reached 70,000. Enditem
