ISTANBUL, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Turkish police detained 641 people in the last two days for their alleged links to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), NTV broadcaster reported Saturday.

Citing a statement issued by the Interior Ministry, NTV said operations were conducted in 42 provinces to capture the suspects in coordination with chief prosecutor's offices across the country.

A large number of guns, pistols, rifles and cartridges as well as organizational documents and digital materials were seized in the raids, it added.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said in a recent statement about Turkey's fight against the PKK that the number of "terrorists" which was between 2,475 and 2,780 in 2016 has dropped to 320.

"Our goal is to reduce the number to less than 300 before the year is over," he noted.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, has been rebelling against the Turkish government for more than 30 years. Enditem
