SHENZHEN, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- The southern metropolis of Shenzhen reported one new imported COVID-19 case Tuesday, the municipal health commission said.

The patient is a 60-year-old truck driver living in Hong Kong who transports goods between Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, and Hong Kong every day. He showed symptoms of mild cough Sunday and tested positive for the novel coronavirus Monday. He was confirmed to be a COVID-19 case Tuesday.

Authorities have placed 52 people under isolated observation, including the driver's 11 close contacts and their 41 close contacts. All 52 have tested negative for the virus.

Authorities in Shenzhen's Longgang District will conduct nucleic acid tests on residents based on the locations visited by the newly confirmed COVID-19 case. Enditem
