BEIJING, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- "Zhuang Tai," a TV drama starring renowned actor Zhang Jiayi as a migrant worker setting up stages for troupes in a city, is currently the most popular Chinese-language TV series, according to review platform Douban.

Released on Nov. 29 on China Central Television as well as online streaming platform mgtv.com, the show topped Douban's weekly popularity ranking for Chinese-language TV series, according to the latest ranking results.

Set in Xi'an City, northwest China's Shaanxi Province, "Zhuang Tai," which literally means "set the stage," has been adapted from a novel of the same name by award-winning writer Chen Yan.

Diao Dashun, played by Zhang, dedicates himself to each part of his work to ensure that the stage is excellent. Diao and his colleagues need to work with people from varying backgrounds -- from show companies to wedding and funeral services. Regardless of what others think about him, Diao shows energy in what he does, believing that his occupation has to do with art.

"Zhuang Tai" currently boasts a rating of 8.4 out of 10 on Douban. Enditem
