GUIZHOU, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Tuesday announced the breakup of a cross-provincial drug-smuggling ring, with 55 suspects apprehended and 567.7 grams of heroin seized.
In March, police in Pingtang County noticed a man surnamed Luo suspected of trafficking heroin. He frequently traveled outside of Pingtang and got in touch with a man surnamed Ding, using argot during trafficking.
After two months of investigation, police found that Ding routinely traded with a man surnamed Chen in the neighboring province of Yunnan, brought the drugs back to Guizhou and distributed the drugs to people including Luo.
A total of 55 suspects were arrested in the drug-trafficking ring. Over 15,000 yuan (2,292 U.S. dollars) and three vehicles carrying the drugs were also seized.
Further investigation is underway. Enditem
