BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

UNMANNED RESEARCH SHIP

China has started building an unmanned intelligent research mothership expected to conduct marine surveys by coordinating with drones, unmanned ships or submersibles, its developer said Sunday.

The ship is expected to be delivered in 2022, according to Zhou Ning, chief scientist of the unmanned equipment team in Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory.

BULLET TRAINS

New-type Fuxing bullet trains with a speed of 250 km per hour will soon be put into use on several railway lines, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.

This marks an important step in China's railway development, and shows that China will continue to lead the world in high-speed rail technology, according to the company.

5G DEVELOPMENT

5G is expected to generate 810.9 billion yuan (about 124.15 billion U.S. dollars) of direct economic output in 2020, according to a white paper.

China has established more than 700,000 5G base stations since the country greenlighted the commercial use of 5G in 2019, said the white paper from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. Enditem
