Drone finds murder suspect in China's mountains

WUHAN, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- An unmanned aerial vehicle has helped find a murder suspect who went into hiding in a mountain and persuaded him to surrender to police, authorities in central China's Hubei Province said Tuesday.

The public security bureau of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture said the man disappeared into a snowy mountain in Daping Town after allegedly murdering his wife on Dec. 10, prompting a manhunt involving more than 200 police officers and villagers.

The police later set off three drones to assist the search. On the evening of Dec. 11, one drone detected the suspect and automatically alerted the police.

The bureau said they also used the drone to transmit voice communications of the police officers and suspect's family members, eventually persuading him to surrender to the police on Dec. 16. Enditem
