ZHUJI, China, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Xinjiang Flying Tigers beat the Sichuan Blue Whales 103-98 to extend their winning streak to six games in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Wednesday.

Sichuan saw the chance of overtime when Marcus Georges-Hunt scored four points in a row to cut the deficit to three points at 98-101 with 22 seconds on the clock before Yu converted both free throws after being fouled to kill off the game.

Zhou Qi led Xinjiang with 28 points and 17 rebounds, with Yu Dehao got seven assists and Donatas Motiejunas adding 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Marcus Georges-Hunt scored a game-best 33 points with seven rebounds and five assists for Sichuan, while Yuan Tangwen finished with 14 points and five assists.

Xinjiang maintained a narrow lead throughout most of the game and although Sichuan managed to level the score at points through the game, they never overturned the deficit.

Coach Adiljan of the fourth-ranked Xinjiang side was not satisfied with his team's performance against a ninth-placed Sichuan that rested their cornerstone Hamed Haddadi.

"It was a hard game. We were not effective in attacking when Sichuan switched from zonal defense to man-to-man defense. The timing to switch defense was not very good either. We need to improve ourselves systematically through the game," he said. Enditem
