NINGBO, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- The China Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) reported a rise in freight indices in the U.S. routes.

The NCFI, reflecting freight rate changes of 21 routes departing from the Ningbo-Zhoushan port, stood at 2,097.4 points in December, up 37 percent from the previous month.

The sub-readings for the east and west coasts of the United States quoted 1,782.7 points and 2,478.6 points, up 7.5 percent and 5.6 percent from the previous month respectively and up 96.8 percent and 182.4 percent compare with the same period in 2019.

According to the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, the overall transport demand is stable. Affected by the delay of shipping date, lack of containers at the port of departure, liner skipping port and other problems, there is a large gap between the supply of transport capacity and the demand for shipment.

Reported every Friday (except Chinese holidays), the NCFI was first published in September 2013. Enditem
