XIAMEN, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Police in the eastern Chinese city of Xiamen, Fujian Province, on Thursday said they had arrested nine drug dealers and seized approximately 230 kg of ketamine.

In October 2019, local police in the city's Huli District received a tip-off that a suspected drug trafficking ring planned to disguise ketamine as shampoo and smuggle the drugs out of the city.

A task force was set up to investigate the case, arresting a key suspect surnamed Peng who was in charge of delivering the drugs to a truck driver surnamed Jiang.

The police launched a raid and arrested the driver, seizing 10 boxes of ketamine weighing approximately 230 kg in total at a warehouse in Xiang'an District.

The police later arrested another seven suspects in provinces including Fujian and Guangdong. A search is underway as some members of the trafficking ring remain at large. Enditem
