BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Han Chongkai, a title-winning member of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) side Beijing Ducks, passed away due to an abdominal aorta tumor, the club announced on Friday.
"We feel deeply saddened that we have lost a beloved family member," read a club statement posted on the social media platform.
Han passed away in Beijing Anzhen Hospital on Thursday at the age of 30.
Coming through the youth ranks, Han joined the Beijing team in 2010, winning the CBA championships in the 2011-12 season.
Known for his solid footwork in the paint and shooting ability, Han earned the name of "Tiger" for his playing style on the court.
However, due to a possibly life-threatening dissecting aneurysm of the aorta in his heart, Han was forced to retire at a young age before turning to a working staff in the club. Enditem
