CBA Roundup: Shandong smashes Jiangsu, Shanghai edges Nanjing

ZHUJI, China, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Shandong Heroes defeated Jiangsu Dragons 111-73 as Lester Hudson became the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) all-time leading scorer, while Shanghai Sharks beat Nanjing Monkey Kings 108-106 here on Wednesday.

Lagging behind 29-21 in the first quarter, Shandong stormed 17-0 just six minutes into the second quarter to turn the table, building a lead of 53-43 at the end of the first half.

The next 12 minutes witnessed Shandong extending the lead to 24 points to secure the victory early in the game.

Four players of each side scored double digits as Jiangsu's Shi Hongfei had a team-high 15 points. Hudson of Shandong contributed a game-high 24 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists, becoming the league's all-time leading scorer with 11,842 points in total, surpassing the previous title holder Yi Jianlian by three points.

"Congrats!!!" Yi, who is still recovering from an ankle injury, wrote on his Weibo account while forwarding the news on his former teammate in Washington Wizards becoming the new leading scorer of the Chinese league.

During the game against Shanghai, Xiralijan Muhtar of Nanjing hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit down to one point with 2.2 seconds left on the clock. Marcus Denmon stepped on the free-throw zone to add one crucial point to Shanghai for the victory. Thus, Nanjing suffered 12 consecutive losses.

Denmon led Shanghai with 37 points together with six rebounds and seven assists. Arnett Moultrie had a double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds for Nanjing. Enditem
