CBA Roundup: Liaoning beats Zhejiang, Jilin edges Lions

ZHUJI, China, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- With guard Guo Ailun collecting 26 points and eight assists, the Liaoning Flying Leopards defeated the Zhejiang Golden Bulls 117-107, while the Zhejiang Lions was edged by Jilin 105-104 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday.

Slightly lagging behind 29-26 in the first quarter, Liaoning strengthened its shots from the paint, led by center Han Dejun, and once overtook the lead early the second quarter.

Through fast attacks, Zhejiang took the control again, leading 59-53 into the second half.

After both sides had a tit-for-tat third quarter, Liaoning expanded the gap through a 12-4 run in the last period en route to its victory.

O.J Mayo added 21 points for Liaoning, while first-year rookie Zhang Zhenlin got 22 points.

Zhejiang guard Wu Qian scored 21 points, while Nicholas Rakocevic and Cheng Shuaipeng finished with 17 points apiece.

Also on Thursday, Jiang Yuxing hit a buzzer-beater to help the Jilin Northeastern Tigers edge the Zhejiang Lions by one point, ending the Lions' four-game winning streak.

With 33 seconds remaining, Dai Huaibo grabbed an offensive rebound for Jilin and Jiang made one of his two free throws to win the game.

Dominique Jones scored a game-high 35 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Jiang added 24 points, while Ding Haoran pocketed 14 points.

In other actions, thanks to Dakari Johnson's big triple-double, the Qingdao Eagles defeated the Shanxi Loongs 103-94, and Beijing Royal Fighters smashed the Tianjin Pioneers 122-82. Enditem
