ZHUJI, China, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Guangdong's teenage sensation Zhang Hao scored a career-high 19 points as the Southern Tigers eased past the Sichuan Whales 107-92 in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday.

The 18-year-old Zhang, who averaged only 5.4 points this season, notched a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds. Marshon Brooks added 15 for Guangdong. Su Ruoyu scored a game-high 23 points for Sichuan.

"I want to give my thanks to the coach; he kept offering time for young players," Zhang said after the match.

"I could have done better in rebounds and been quicker in attacking," he added.

Guangdong led the game all the way after an 11-11 tie in the middle of the first quarter. A 14-4 spurt gifted the defending champion a 50-35 lead going into the halftime break.

Guangdong kept its momentum and increased the advantage to 82-64 at the end of the third quarter and killed the game with ease. Enditem
