Greater Bay Airlines applies to HKSAR for routes

HONG KONG, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on Friday published in the Gazette Greater that Bay Airlines Company Limited applied to the HKSAR's Air Transport Licensing Authority to operate routes between Hong Kong and 104 destinations.

According to the HKSAR government Gazette, the point of departure is Hong Kong International Airport. Of the 104 destinations, 48 are mainland cities, four in China's Taiwan, and the remaining ones include Tokyo, Seoul, Bangkok and other Asia-Pacific cities. Greater Bay Airlines will provide passenger transport, freight transport and mail services.

Greater Bay Airlines was founded by businessman Bill Wong Cho-bau, who also operates Donghai Airlines in Shenzhen.

In October 2020, Cathay Pacific Airways ceased operation of its subsidiary Cathay Dragon due to the impact of COVID-19. At present, there are three passenger airlines in Hong Kong, namely Cathay Pacific, Cathay Pacific's Hong Kong Express, and Hong Kong Airlines. Enditem
