ZHUJI, China, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Guangdong Southern Tigers overwhelmed the Sichuan Blue Whales 107-92 in the 33rd round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday, extending its winning streak to six games.
Falling behind by 15 points in the first half, Sichuan launched a 10-3 run back from the locker room to narrow the gap to eight.
Led by former NBA player Marshon Brooks, the defending champion enlarged the gap to over 20 points in the last period to nail its victory.
Brooks finished with 15 points for Guangdong, Zhang Hao got a career-high 19 points and seven rebounds, and center Su Wei grabbed 11 points.
Su Ruoyu collected a game-high 23 points for Sichuan, Yuan Tangwen had 15 points, and Li Yuanyu added 13 points and nine rebounds.
In the other two games played on Friday, the Guangzhou Loong Lions delivered the Jiangsu Dragons their sixth straight loss with a 119-94 win, and the Nanjing Monkey Kings defeated the Fujian Sturgeons 104-90 to end their 12-game losing streak, as Xiralijan Muhtar contributed 27 points and eight assists for Nanjing.
