ZHUJI, China, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Guangzhou Loong Lions played a more balanced offensive game, beating the Jiangsu Dragons 119-94 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday.

Led by Marreese Speights who notched 26 points and 10 rebounds, Guangzhou finished with six players in double digits. Dezmine Wells of Jiangsu scored a game-high 32 points, yet he could not help his team avoid a six-game losing streak.

Wells was at the hub of Jiangsu's attacks in the first half, posting 21 points through tough layups and three-pointers, but Guangzhou controlled the rhythm as Speights shot four of four in the second quarter, helping his team prevail 59-43 at halftime.

"Our players executed the game plan very well tonight, though we lost a few offensive rebounds," said Guangzhou head coach Guo Shiqiang at the post-game press conference.

Guangzhou continued to pour on the pressure with more players adding fire on the offensive end, comfortably establishing a 25-point lead going into the last period, during which Jiangsu kept attacking the rim, but they were unable to gain an advantage.

"We did a good job defensively in the paint tonight, but our players, especially the young ones, still need to learn lessons on how to play hard on the court," said Jiangsu head coach Li Nan. Enditem
