HONG KONG, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection (CHP) reported 60 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking its total tally to 10,282.

The new cases included 57 local infections, of which 21 had an unknown origin. There were also about 40 cases tested positive preliminarily, according to a CHP press briefing.

Summarizing the experience of fighting COVID-19 in the past year, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam said on social media on Wednesday that compared with the Chinese mainland, Macao and Taiwan, Hong Kong's epidemic control was not satisfactory, but from an international perspective, Hong Kong has remained unscathed.

The HKSAR government's priority is to stop the epidemic so that people can live a normal life and the economy can get back on track, she added.

According to Hong Kong's Hospital Authority, 856 COVID-19 patients are currently being treated in public hospitals and the community treatment facility at AsiaWorld-Expo, and 32 patients are in critical condition.

A total of 169 confirmed and one preliminarily confirmed COVID-19 patients have passed away in public hospitals so far. Enditem
