BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.45 percent, at 3,642.44 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 3.07 percent lower at 15,336.95 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices expanded to 1.29 trillion yuan (about 200 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.04 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to non-ferrous metals and rare earth led the gains, while shares related to Chinese Baijiu and automobiles led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 4.47 percent to close at 3,138.67 points. Enditem
