BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Here are the highlights of China's education news from the past week:

-- China makes headway in legal education for minors in 2020

More than 33,000 Chinese prosecutors acted as deputy principals in over 45,000 schools across the country last year to advance legal education for students, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Monday.

Chinese procuratorial organs also produced TV programs and short videos and compiled books to improve education on the rule of law for minors, said Shi Weizhong, an official with the SPP.

-- Chinese students to welcome normal spring semester after epidemic disruption

Chinese students will enjoy a return to normal school life after their last spring semester was disrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the Ministry of Education.

To minimize the risk of any potential cross-infection, the ministry asked schools to stagger the return of students at a press conference held on Tuesday.

-- Mainland welcomes, supports Taiwan students to study on mainland: spokesperson

The Chinese mainland will continue to provide support and services for Taiwan people to study on the mainland, no matter how the cross-Strait relationship changes, a mainland spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The improving quality of education and the promising prospects of economic and social development on the mainland have created valuable opportunities for Taiwan students, said Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, when answering a query about mainland university admissions for Taiwan students.
