BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Here are the highlights of China's cultural news from the past week:

-- "Hi, Mom" beats "Avengers: Endgame" at China's box office

"Hi, Mom," the maiden directorial project of a Chinese comedian-actress, has beaten the 2019 American superhero film "Avengers: Endgame" at China's box office.

The cumulative ticket sales of the Chinese comedy film had topped 4.27 billion yuan (661 million U.S. dollars) by the evening of Tuesday, its 12th screening day, surpassing 4.25 billion yuan, the total generated by "Avengers: Endgame."

-- China national museum to exhibit lunar samples

The National Museum of China on Tuesday announced that it would exhibit the lunar samples brought back by China's Chang'e-5 probe.

The samples arrived at the museum on Monday and the exhibition is under preparation, according to the museum. They are preserved in a delicate container made of artificial crystal.

Designed in the shape of a Zun, a traditional Chinese bronze ware, the container is 38.44 cm high and 22.89 cm wide. The size refers to the average distance between the Earth and the moon of 384,400 km and the 22.89-day-long lunar probe task, respectively.

-- China's weekly box office tops 5 bln yuan for second time

China's box office revenue during the seven-day period ending on Sunday hit 5.5 billion yuan (851 million U.S. dollars), marking a second time that the market's weekly total has ever crossed the 5-billion-yuan mark.

The first such achievement was made in 2019 when the market's total earnings from Feb. 4 to 10, 2019 topped 5.9 billion yuan, with "The Wandering Earth," a cinematic adaptation of Liu Cixin's sci-fi novel of the same name, contributing one third. Enditem
