-- China renews red lines for medical research integrity
China has revised a regulation on integrity and ethics in medical research, making clear the rules and red lines for relevant practices by medical researchers and institutes.
The code, jointly revised by the National Health Commission (NHC), the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, stipulated that the whole process of medical studies, covering everything from the project application through to the publication, review and appraisal of research results, should be subject to the integrity and good faith requirements.
-- Taiwan continues strict COVID-19 control measures
Taiwan will continue to impose strict epidemic control measures from March 1 as the COVID-19 pandemic remained severe across the world, the local epidemic monitoring agency said Monday.
Besides a negative COVID-19 test result within three days is needed when boarding the flight to Taiwan, passengers will be quarantined for 14 days at either a quarantine hotel room, designated quarantine center or at a private home where only the person in quarantine lives, the agency said at a press briefing.
-- Special medical program helps poor patients with serious illnesses
As of 2020, a special program to help with the treatment of impoverished rural residents who suffer from serious illnesses had covered 30 diseases, notably reducing the financial burden on such patients, according to the NHC Thursday.
It helped about 811,000 inpatients with their treatment last year, the commission said in a statement.
Currently, the program is accessible to over 80 million rural residents registered as experiencing financial difficulties and 18,000 medical institutions, covering the treatment of illnesses such as lung cancer, liver cancer, acute heart arrest, HIV/AIDS, severe mental disorder and childhood leukemia.
