China's Guizhou phases out outdated coal production capacity

GUIYANG, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Authorities phased out outdated coal production capacity during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) in southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The province closed 477 collieries and phased out an average of more than 74 million tonnes of outdated coal production capacity each year, according to the provincial energy administration.

The province will optimize the structure of the coal industry, according to the administration. Collieries in Guizhou will be updated to increase their production capacity so as to reach an annual coal production capacity of 250 million tonnes in 2025. Enditem
