BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's major technology news from the past week:

ARTIFICIAL HEART

A Chinese man was discharged from hospital after an artificial heart powered by China's aerospace technology was implanted into him to replace his failed organ.

Called HeartCon, the medical device weighs only 180 grams. Scientists used magnetic and fluid levitation, which are used in rocket servo technology, to make the device in the nature of a mechanical pump to support heart functions while causing less damage to patient's blood.

PATENT APPLICATIONS

In 2020, China saw a 17.9-percent year-on-year increase in patent applications from domestic applicants via the Patent Cooperation Treaty.

Applications for trademark registration under the Madrid System from domestic applicants also increased 16.1 percent year on year in 2020, according to China's National Intellectual Property Administration.

NEW SATELLITE

The third group of China's Yaogan-31 remote sensing satellites were sent into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 10:22 a.m. (Beijing Time) Wednesday.

The satellites were carried by a Long March-4C rocket. It was the 361st flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series, the launch center said.

Having entered their planned orbits, the satellites will be used for electromagnetic environment surveys and other related technology tests.

RED LINES FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH INTEGRITY

China has revised a regulation on integrity and ethics in medical research, making clear the rules and red lines for relevant practices by medical researchers and institutes.

The code stipulated that the whole process of medical studies, covering everything from the project application through to the publication, review and appraisal of research results, should be subject to the integrity and good faith requirements. Enditem
