RIYADH, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia vowed on Wednesday to take deterrent action to protect its oil facilities, Al Arabiya TV reported.
The vow was made by Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Riyadh, after Yemeni Houthi rebels' attacks on Aramco facilities in the kingdom's eastern province earlier this week.
The Saudi minister called for a strong stance by the international community to tackle the hostilities of the Houthi militias.
On Sunday, the Saudi air defenses thwarted drone and missile attacks on an oil storage yard at Ras Tanura, the world's biggest offshore oil loading facility, and an Aramco residential area in Dharan, both in eastern Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Saudi and Russian foreign ministers reaffirmed cooperation within the framework of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+).
Saudi Arabia and Russia are keen on fair price of oil for consumer and producers to support the global economy, the Saudi minister said. Enditem
