EARTH OBSERVATION SATELLITE

China sent a new Earth observation satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday (Beijing Time).

The satellite, Gaofen-12 02, was launched aboard a Long March-4C rocket and entered its planned orbit successfully.

SANDSTORM SOURCE CONTROL

A global dryland research project led by Chinese researchers will serve as a reference for sandstorm source control, according to the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The Global Dryland Ecosystem Programme (Global-DEP), initiated by the CAS, published a series of research results on Monday, providing a roadmap and cooperation platform for the research and management of global arid areas.

Through this project, researchers from home and abroad have jointly formulated standards for global observation and research on dryland areas and carried out case studies of dryland ecosystem protection in different regions.

FAST TELESCOPE OPENING

China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), the world's largest single-dish and most sensitive radio telescope, will officially open to the world starting Wednesday.
