Kuwait reports 1,403 new COVID-19 cases, 239,952 in total

KUWAIT CITY, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwaiti Health Ministry reported on Tuesday 1,403 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total infections in the country to 239,952.

The ministry also announced eight more fatalities, taking the death toll to 1,373, while the tally of recoveries rose by 1,432 to 224,701. A total of 13,878 coronavirus patients are receiving treatment, including 216 in the intensive care units.

At a government meeting on Monday, Kuwaiti Minister of Health Bassel Al-Sabah said infections and virus-induced deaths in Kuwait are witnessing an unprecedentedly surge due to lax adherence to the government-imposed restrictions.

The Kuwaiti government has decided to further shorten the curfew by one hour to last between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. local time, and allow walk inside residential areas between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. from April 8 to April 22. Enditem
