SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday nominated former four-term lawmaker and interior minister Kim Boo-kyum as the new prime minister in his cabinet reshuffle, the presidential Blue House said.

NEW DELHI -- India reported yet another fresh high of 217,353 new COVID-19 cases, as the daily spike surpassed 200,000 for the second consecutive day, taking the total tally to 14,291,917, according to the data released by the federal health ministry Friday.

Meanwhile, 1,185 people died from COVID-19 since Thursday morning, bringing the death toll to 174,308.

There are still a total of 1,569,743 active cases in the country, with an increase of 97,866 in the past 24 hours. (India-COVID-19)

SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in is scheduled to visit Washington D.C. in the latter half of May for summit talks with U.S. President Joe Biden at the invitation of Biden, the South Korean presidential Blue House said Friday.

ISLAMABAD -- A special economic zone (SEZ) being constructed in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will create over 200,000 job opportunities for the locals, an official from the province has said.

Chief Executive Officer of the state-owned Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company Javed Khattak told media on Thursday that the Rashakai SEZ in the province is prioritized as a special economic park spreading over an area of about 1,000 acres near the provincial capital of Peshawar. HONG KONG -- Four people were killed and two others injured in a fire that happened during small hours Friday at a residential building in Hong Kong.

The fire broke out at about 3:00 a.m. local time at a high-rise of Po Tat Estate, Kwun Tong District, with one found dead at the scene and another three confirmed dead in hospital, said the Hong Kong police, adding the two injured were rushed to hospital. (Hong Kong-Fire) Enditem
