Iran's IRGC Quds Force names new deputy commander after predecessor died of heart disease

TEHRAN, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Mohammad Reza Fallahzadeh was appointed the deputy commander of Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) after his predecessor died of heart disease on Sunday, the IRGC's media arm Sepah News reported Monday.

Fallahzadeh previously served as the deputy coordinator of the IRGC's Quds Force, before being offered this new position with the endorsement by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He was also the IRGC commander in Iran's central Yazd, Isfahan, and Fars provinces.

Mohammad Hejazi, former deputy commander of the Quds Force of the IRGC, died of a chronic heart disease on Sunday.

The Quds Force is responsible for extraterritorial missions of the IRGC. Enditem
