SHANGHAI, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Italian luxury carmakers Lamborghini and Maserati rolled out the global debuts of several new models at the ongoing 19th International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2021) running from April 19 to 28.

"The Chinese market is seeing very positive developments. I am very happy to confirm that all production for the Chinese market in 2021 is already planned. With growing volumes, the Chinese market is expected to rise to the second place in terms of sales, remaining one of the most significant markets for Lamborghini globally," said Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, via a video link to the auto show.

Lamborghini celebrated three premieres at the Auto Shanghai 2021, which is the first of the world's biggest auto shows to run normally amid the coronavirus pandemic this year. Among the trio is the hypercar Essenza SCV12, limited to only 40 units globally.

"In China, we are reaching a more diversified customer group including a higher average age, as well as more family-oriented and more female customers. We will continue to expand our dealer network into more cities beyond the first and second tiers," said Francesco Scardaoni, region director of Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific.

Luxury brand Maserati has also shown its keen interest in the Chinese market by debuting three new models at the auto show.

Among the three models, the Levante Hybrid is of particular note, representing the first electrified SUV of the company. According to the carmaker, with the debut of the new model, Maserati has taken a major step forward in its electrification strategy.

"The Auto Shanghai is an extremely important event for our brand. The show marks a rebirth in difficult times. We believe strongly in this new beginning," said Maserati CEO Davide Grasso. Enditem
