BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.16 percent to 3,441.28 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.58 percent lower at 14,210.6 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 875.5 billion yuan (about 134.9 billion U.S. dollars), up from 866.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares related to the steel and coal sectors led the gains, while the tourism and vaccine sectors led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.48 percent to close at 3,014.81 points. Enditem
