RIYADH, May 10 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen intercepted on Monday a bomb-laden drone fired toward Abha International Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, Al Ekhbariya TV reported.

The coalition condemned the attack as a "war crime," vowing necessary steps to deter any threat against civilians and civilian sites.

The Saudi airport has been targeted several times by the Yemeni Houthi rebels along with various vital facilities and border cities. Most of the attempts were foiled by the coalition.

Saudi Arabia has been welcoming any efforts that could lead to a political solution in Yemen. It is also leading an Arab coalition involved in a war in Yemen against the Houthi militia in support of the government of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Enditem
