SHANGHAI, May 11 (Xinhua) -- The 2021 Chinese National Diving Championships, which serve as Olympic qualifiers, kicked off at the Oriental Sports Center here on Tuesday.

As the highest level diving event in China, the competition consists of 12 individual events, among which three are Olympic qualifiers.

In the first day of competition, Chen Yuxi from Shanghai and Zhang Jiaqi from Beijing won the crown for the women's 10m synchro platform final, while Xie Siyi from Guangdong and Wang Zongyuan from Hubei notched the gold medal for the men's 3m synchro springboard final with a total score of 462.78 points.

"The result of our training can be seen through the recent events," said Zhou Jihong, president of Chinese Diving Association.
