GUIYANG, China, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Mountain Running Series started on Sunday with 691 runners competing in Tongzi County of southwest China's Guizhou Province.

Ten similar competitions have already been held in Tongzi County since 2015, which promote the growth of local tourism, local authorities said.

According to the organizing committee, the route is a closed-loop featuring rivers, ridges, jungles and mountain paths, with an elevation from 404 to 1,180 meters.

Huang Daoyong claimed the men's 50km title in four hours, 43 minutes and one second. He Zhenyu won the women's 50km in 6:43:00. Li Wenjie won the men's 30km in 2:25:40, while Zhang Ting won the women's 30km in 3:22:45.

"The difficulty coefficient is big for the climbs, but the scenery along the route is beautiful, which made me feel good," said Huang.

The race is the first of the series, and the finals will be held in Loudian County, Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province at the end of December this year, said the organizing committee. Enditem
