ROME, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Manuel Locatelli scored twice as Italy beat Switzerland 3-0 on Wednesday night in Rome to become the first side to assure their place in the last 16 of the European Championships.
Locatelli's first goal came after a move he started with a pass to Domenico Berardi before running into the area to fire home the return pass from close range in the 24th minute, while his second was a left foot shot from outside of the area in the 52nd minute as he was given time to control the ball and pick his spot.
Italy produced another aggressive display that was far removed from their traditionally conservative style of play and they snuffed out the Swiss in midfield and attack, while always looking for Berardi, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne to rip into the Swiss defense.
Immobile missed two chances in the second half, but rounded off the scoring with a good finish from outside the area that Sommer couldn't keep out to cap another very impressive team performance. Enditem
