BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

FOSSIL DISCOVERY

Paleontologists have found an ancient fossil bed during a field trip to the Qaidam Basin in northwest China.

The fossil groups are about 550 million years old. They are the oldest fossil groups ever discovered on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences said.

URINE RECYCLING IN SPACE

Chinese scientists have devised a system to recycle water from the urine, breath and sweat produced by astronauts in space, which could save up to 100 million yuan (about 15.5 million U.S. dollars) over a period of six months with three astronauts in orbit.

The system has been installed in China's newly launched core space station module Tianhe, meaning urine can be processed into distilled water, some of which will be used for toilet flushing.

AIRBUS PROJECT IN CHINA

An Airbus A320 fuselage equipping project was jointly launched by Airbus and the Aviation Industry Corporation of China on Tuesday in north China's Tianjin.

The project demonstrates the manufacturing capability of Chinese aviation players and Airbus' long-term commitments to China, said the European planemaker. Enditem
