China's Zhengzhou reports 35 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases

ZHENGZHOU, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Zhengzhou, capital of central China's Henan Province, reported 35 locally transmitted confirmed COVID-19 cases between Sunday midnight and 6 p.m. Monday, local authorities said.

All of the cases were previously categorized as asymptomatic carriers, according to the municipal headquarters of COVID-19 prevention and control on Monday.

The city also reported three new locally transmitted asymptomatic cases as of 6 p.m. Monday, the headquarters said.

Since July 30, Zhengzhou has reported a total of 116 locally transmitted confirmed cases and 12 asymptomatic cases in the latest COVID-19 outbreak, according to the headquarters.

By 6 p.m. Monday, the city had completed the third round of all-inclusive nucleic acid testing, with more than 12 million residents sampled. So far, over 8.3 million samples have been tested and showed negative results. Enditem
