BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.43 percent, at 3,581.73 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.68 percent lower at 14,179.86 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached over 1.57 trillion yuan (about 243.6 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.43 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to selected companies on the "new third board" and hotels and catering sectors led the gains. In contrast, those related to lithium extraction and titanium dioxide sectors led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.17 percent to close at 3,102.14 points. Enditem
