BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- China's women's national football team is to compete at the upcoming National Games under a new head coach following a humiliating campaign at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Chinese side, who lost to Brazil 5-0, drew with Zambia 4-4 before losing to Holland 8-2 to exit at the group stage of the 2020 Olympics Games women's football competition, has since been training at Liu Ba, a county about 350 kilometers southwest to Xi'an, where the 14th Chinese National Games will officially start on Wednesday.

Shui Qingxia, the head coach of Shanghai Women's football club, is in charge of the Chinese side with its incumbent head coach Jia Xiuquan unseen inside the team.

"I am only tasked with managing this team to compete at the national games," Shui said.

The former Chinese international said she has no idea who will take over the Chinese side after the National Games.

The Chinese Football Association, to date, has not made any public statement about that.

The Chinese women's team will face Shaanxi team in their first group game of the National Games on Thursday. Enditem
