BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Port forward Ricardo Lopes has been ruled out for the rest of this season after suffering a serious knee injury in training, the Chinese Super League (CSL) club announced on Friday.

The Brazilian striker ruptured his right knee ligament under challenge in a recent training session, and is set to miss the remainder of this season, Shanghai Port club said on its official social media platform.

The 30-year-old will return to Brazil to have an operation, Shanghai Port club said.

The CSL has been suspended mid-season from Aug. 15 to Dec. 1 to make way for the Chinese men's national team to play the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Enditem
