BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.8 percent, at 3,613.07 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.21 percent lower at 14,357.85 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.28 trillion yuan (about 198 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.32 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Food producers and liquor makers were among the biggest winners while shares related to coal and cement lost the most.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.8 percent to close at 3,207.82 points. Enditem
