MEXICO CITY, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- A stunning first-half goal from Argentine striker Julio Furch set Atlas on course for a 1-0 victory at Pumas UNAM in the first leg of their Liga MX Apertura semifinal on Friday.
Furch ran onto a pass from Colombian forward Julian Quinones before rifling a 25-yard first-time effort into the top-right corner at the Universitario Olimpico stadium.
Pumas dominated possession after halftime but had few concrete scoring chances against a disciplined Atlas defense. The return leg will be held at Atlas' Jalisco stadium on Sunday.
The winner on aggregate will play either Tigres UANL or Leon in the Apertura final over two legs on December 9 and 12.
Tigres secured a 2-1 home win in the first leg of their semifinal, with the decider to be staged on Saturday. Enditem
