China's lottery sales down in November

BEIJING, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's lottery ticket sales reached approximately 33.11 billion yuan (about 5.19 billion U.S. dollars) in November last year, down 8.1 percent year on year, data from the Ministry of Finance showed.

Sales of lottery tickets to support China's welfare system totaled 13.19 billion yuan in November, while sales of lottery tickets to support the country's sports industry stood at 19.92 billion yuan, according to the ministry.

In the first 11 months of 2021, total lottery sales amounted to 341.03 billion yuan, up 14.7 percent year on year.

Under China's lottery management rules, funds raised from ticket sales are used for administrative expenses, public welfare projects and prize winnings. Enditem
