BEIRUT, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Wednesday condemned an attack against the peacekeepers of UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon.

In a statement from the Presidency, Aoun said an investigation into the attack was underway, emphasizing the importance of coordination between the Lebanese Armed Forces and the UNIFIL to avoid a recurrence of such incidents.

The UN peacekeepers were attacked on Tuesday on a routine patrol in Lebanon's southern village of Ramyah, the National News Agency reported.

The peacekeepers' vehicles were intercepted and two of them destroyed, during which one UNIFIL soldier was wounded, Andrea Tenenti, a UNIFIL spokesperson, was quoted as saying. Enditem
