China's bond market saw 61.9-trln-yuan issued in 2021

BEIJING, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- The total bond issuance in China stood at 61.9 trillion yuan (about 9.7 trillion U.S. dollars) last year, data from the central bank shows.

The figure was 8 percent higher than the 2020 level, according to the People's Bank of China.

The issuance of treasury bonds reached 6.7 trillion yuan, and the issuance of local government bonds was 7.5 trillion yuan, the data shows.

In 2021, financial bond issuance stood at 9.6 trillion yuan, and corporate bond issuance hit 14.8 trillion yuan. The issuance of asset-backed securities totaled 881.53 billion yuan, and the issuance of interbank deposit certificates reached 21.8 trillion yuan.

By the end of December last year, outstanding bonds held in custody hit 133.5 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.5 trillion yuan, the data shows. Enditem
