BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

TWO NEW SATELLITES

China successfully sent two satellites into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on Friday.

The satellites, Siwei 01 and 02, were launched by a Long March-2C carrier rocket at 12:11 p.m. (Beijing Time) and have entered the planned orbit.

NEW METHOD TO PRODUCE GLUCOSE AND FATTY ACIDS

Chinese scientists have developed a new method to translate carbon dioxide and water into glucose and fatty acids.

The technique comes after another group in China successfully synthesized starch from carbon dioxide in 2021, and it has provided fresh potential for artificial or semi-artificial food production.

SF AIRLINES

SF Airlines, China's largest air-cargo carrier, has expanded the size of its all-cargo freighter fleet to 70, the cargo carrier announced Friday.

The latest member of the SF Airlines fleet, a B767-300 widebody freighter, has already begun serving the Shenzhen-Beijing route, said SF Airlines.

The total sum of SF Airlines' B767-300 freighters has reached 14. These widebody freighters are mainly serving on the routes linking China with South and Southeast Asia. Enditem
