BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news in China.

COMMERCIAL SPACE TELESCOPE

China's commercial space telescope Yangwang-1 has completed an optical survey of the whole sky, according to its developer.

During its stay in orbit, Yangwang-1 carried out sky survey observation, atmospheric luminous observation, night remote monitoring and asteroid observation, according to Su Meng, founder and CEO of Origin Space.

HUMAN ACTIVITIES, OIL SPILLS

Chinese and U.S. scientists found that oil spills in global oceans caused by human activities are substantially underestimated, with over 90 percent discharges "anthropogenic."

The study published on Friday in the journal, Science, described the extent, frequency, and probable sources of chronic marine oil pollution.

AIR MONITORING STATIONS

China plans to build eight new national atmosphere background watch stations by the end of 2025 to strengthen greenhouse gas observation, according to the country's meteorological authority.

The stations are set up to monitor dozens of elements, including greenhouse gases, reactive gas ozone, aerosols and solar radiation. Scientists usually select station sites far away from human activities and pollution sources. Enditem
