BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

TEST SATELLITE

China on Wednesday sent a new satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

The Tianxing-1 test satellite is mainly used for experiments such as space environment detection.

ASTRONAUTS AWARDED

Three astronauts from the Shenzhou-13 crewed mission were awarded medals for their service to China's space endeavors on Tuesday.

Zhai Zhigang, the mission commander, and Wang Yaping, the first female on China's space station, were honored with second-class aerospace achievement medals, while Ye Guangfu received a third-class medal and the honorary title "heroic astronaut."

RISKS OF LONG SITTING TIME

A joint global study has found that long sitting time is associated with increased risks of all-cause mortality and major cardiovascular diseases.

The association of sitting hours with mortality and cardiovascular events was more pronounced in low-income and lower-middle-income countries, according to the findings published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Cardiology. Enditem
