China science, technology news summary -- Aug. 10

BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

2022 WORLD ROBOT CONFERENCE

The World Robot Conference 2022 (WRC 2022) will be held from Aug. 18 to 21 in Beijing, according to the Beijing Association for Science and Technology.

During the conference, more than 500 sets of robots will be displayed and over 30 of them will make their world debuts in Beijing.

The conference, which will be held both online and offline, features three major events including forum, expo and competition.

NEW SATELLITES

China on Wednesday sent 16 new satellites into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the northern province of Shanxi.

The satellites, including a Jilin-1 Gaofen 03D09 satellite and Yunyao-1 04-08 satellites, were launched by a Long March-6 carrier rocket at 12:50 p.m. Beijing Time and entered the planned orbit successfully.

The new batch of satellites is mainly used in the fields such as commercial remote sensing and atmospheric imaging.

RARE FISH

Over 100,000 rare fish have been released into the Markog River basin at the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, China's longest river.

The release took place on Tuesday in Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province in the northwest of China.

The released batch included 16 specimens of Hucho bleekeri, which is a fish species under first-class national protection. This species is mostly found in China's Sichuan Province and Shaanxi Province. Enditem
