BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.15 percent to 3,276.89 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.44 percent lower at 12,419.39 points.
Turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 999.54 billion yuan (148 billion U.S. dollars), lower than that on the previous trading day.
Oil and gas production, shipping, and coal mining sectors were among the biggest gainers, while the semiconductor and communications sectors suffered losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.13 percent to close at 2,690.83 points. Enditem
